Roslyn Court Apartments
40 Osborne Street

Constructed between 1908 and 1909 the Roslyn Courts were among the first apartment blocks to be constructed in Winnipeg. It was also one of the largest and most costly to construct, originally containing 35 suites at approximately $5,700 per suite and $205,000 total. The massive Queen Anne style block originally contained 26 two and three bedroom suites, and ten one room bachelor suites. Ornamental features included ornate plaster woodwork, stained glass, beamed dining room ceilings, open fireplaces, and a cage passenger elevator that remains operative.

The building was commissioned by Dr. Richard J. Mattice who moved to Winnipeg in 1902. Mattice owned Roslyn Court until 1919. The building transferred hands a few times after that, until it was acquired by the present owner Roslyn Properties in 1970.
