McDougall House
3514 Pembina Highway
Mcdougall house was constructed in 1883, for a Metis widow
and her sons who chose to relocate along the Red River following
the turmoil surrounding the Red River Rebellion and the formation
of the Province of Manitoba. It is constructed of spruce logs
secured together with dovetail joints. In its original setting
the building probably rested on a wooden foundation, with
a single room on the first floor and three bedrooms on the
second. Several changes were made to the home including the
removal of the front veranda, and the addition of wood siding
and stucco. Mrs. Mcdougall's son Francois-Daniel remained
in the home until his death in 1902, and his daughter Alexina
Manaigre lived in the house until 1965. In more recent years
the home was moved to an historic theme park in St. Norbet.
