Bellcrest Apartments
72 Lenore Street
The Bellcrest Apartments were constructed in 1928. Its exterior
is one of light coloured Manitoba limestone, which distinguishes
it amongst other apartment blocks of its era. The building
designed and built by Bently Taylor, at a cost of $75,000.
The building is symmetrical with several rectangular windows
on the facade as well as ornamental ironwork. The interior
finish includes green tile floors as well as a staircase lit
by a skylight. The block was originally divided into 19 one
bedroom suites, located off of a central hallway.
The Bellcrest Apartments were originally owned by Sidney T.
Jones, secretary-treasurer of Empire Loan Co., and by 1933
by 1933 the company had taken over the block. The block has
transferred ownership several times since.
